Welcome to the dugout

So here's the thing about fantasy baseball advice: most of it is written for somebody else's team.

The podcast tells you to grab the hot waiver arm — doesn't know he's useless in your league because you punt saves. The rankings site says start the stud — doesn't know your opponent is up by nine steals with two days left. Generic advice for a game that is never generic.

Ribby is different because Ribby is in your league. Connect your Yahoo league (ESPN is in beta) and Ribby sees what you see — your roster, your opponent's roster, the waiver wire, the standings, the schedule, your league's actual scored categories — and answers the question you actually asked, about the team you actually have.

Ask who to start tonight. Ask whether that trade offer is a fleece. Ask who to grab before your league-mates wake up. Ribby answers like a sharp old coach who happens to have every number in the building — a little sass included, free of charge.

A few things we believe, stated plainly:

  • Full context or nothing. Every answer considers your whole league situation, not a player in a vacuum. That's the whole point.
  • No invented numbers. If Ribby doesn't have a stat, Ribby says so. An honest "I don't have that" beats a confident guess every day of the week.
  • We grade ourselves. Our projections get checked against what actually happened, nightly, and we show our work. More on that in another post.

Ribby is in beta. You can start a free trial — ten questions, no credit card — and see whether it feels like having a genius buddy in the dugout. We think it will.
